BEYOND
BASES was founded in 1993 to address local substance abuse needs of adolescents, young adults and their families. BASES has thrived since that time by partnering with schools, courts, communities and organizations to meet our local needs in a proactive, fiscally sensible manner. We have developed a very strong and dedicated staff, board of directors and volunteer base. We combined efforts with a local teen center in 1997, purchased the facility in 1998, paid off the mortgage in 2002 and finished renovations of the building in 2003. Since that time we have focused our efforts on maintaining the facility and the teen programs that we have in place through our Recovery High program. We invite you to join our team and make a difference by investing in our young people today. In recent years we are taking a more active role in community education, consultation to schools & community groups, and developing training programs to assist in educating area professionals that work with teens.
It has been a long-term objective of Scott Kelly for BASES to have a high yield account for two reasons:
* To enable the staff to concentrate all of their time providing young people the skills and opportunities for a drug-free future, and
* To increase our ability to provide services to young people and their families at no cost to them.
A high yield account of $5 million, earning at least 5% per year, would generate $250,000 which would meet our current annual operational needs. Until this becomes a reality we will continue to do our best while striving to get better at what we do.
We have established a non-endowed account at the Charlevoix County Community Foundation for those who would like to make contributions to the Community Foundation on our behalf and gain the various tax benefits through these type of donations. We have also secured a financial broker who can assist us in liquidating donations that may come in the form of stocks, bonds, or certificates. If you would like additional information, please contact Scott.
